On March 20, 2018, Barbara Ridely, Head of School of Design of the Glasgow School of Art (hereafter referred to as GSA) and its Chief Representative inChinavisited SCFAI. Pang Maokun, President of SCFAI, leaders of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and the UK representatives of the China-UK Joint Education Program had a meeting with Barbara and her delegation in Meeting Room 2 and signed agreement on the “1+1+1” Joint Postgraduate Education Program.

At the meeting, both parties discussed the design concept, student application and academic exchange of the “1+1+1” joint postgraduate education program of concern to both parties. On the issues of the future development of the discipline of design, talent cultivation and characteristic research, both parties believe that the discipline of art design is an open discipline that keeps abreast of the times and continues to make innovations. As professional art academies, SCFAI and GSA will have morepotentials for cooperation in the future.

After the meeting, Barbara and her delegation visited the beautiful campus of SCFAI and observed the scene of teaching of Department of Visual Design, Department of Industrial Design, Department of Environment Design, Department of Fashion Design of the School of Design and Department of Jewelry Design of the School  of Handicraft Art.

On the same day, Barbara Ridely and her delegation visited the student studio of the China-UK joint education experimental class and interviewed the students who applied for design-related programs of GSA. The students’ excellent linguistic ability and creative works won the heartfelt praise of the interviewers.
